By drying out your paint and bagging it before you put it in the trash,
you help minimize the harm done by your old paint. If not properly taken care of, your paint can
spill and pollute. It can pollute in the landfill, and it may get crushed in the garbage truck and
spill on the streets of your community. To help dry out your paint, you can use kitty litter or saw dust.
If your paint is not very old, you're encouraged to reuse it instead of trashing it. Keep an eye out for
swap days, household hazardous waste days, and places that are accepting donations of used paint.
